2015 has come and gone. Now, we look forward to the next year of movies. We did have a particularly good year last year, so 2016 has a lot to live up to. So, the natural thing to do would be look at what is coming out this year and determine which ones I am most excited to see. So, that is what I’ve done.
There are films that did not make the list I am still excited to see. Right at the top I should say I am very excited for X-Men: Apocalypse. I have to state that immediately as I am sure many people will be annoyed by the lack of blockbusters, but Bryan Singer is three-for-three in that series thus far, and I hope it’s four-for-four. On a smaller science-fiction scale, I’m interested in Jeff Nichols’ Midnight Special. John Hillcaot’s Triple 9 has my attention thanks to Hillcoat’s great track record (The Proposition, The Road, Lawless). I am still waiting for Denis Villeneuve’s films to really connect with me, so I have hope for Story of Your Life. And the one film I know will be beautiful to look at and hopefully entertaining is Luca Guadagnino’s A Bigger Splash.
But the ten I am most excited about you can see by heading on to the next page.
