5. Jupiter Ascending
This is the one movie I feel a tiny bit bad about including. I admire Andy and Lana Wachowski for creating big budget, original content. It is rarity nowadays, but every single thing about Jupiter Ascending does not work. Even though it is original, the mythology and story feel lifted from a bad sci-fi novel where they felt obligated to include every detail, regardless if it flowed or even made sense. Mila Kunis is a completely charmless lead, and I have no idea what Eddie Redmayne is doing as the villain. It’s amusing in the camp, but hat is different than actually being a compelling story. Jupiter Ascending is an ambitious failure, but that does not change the fact it is still a failure.
