8. Certain Women

I run very hot and cold with Kelly Reichardt. I always admire what she is trying to do even if I don’t connect. For instance, Wendy and Lucy is terrific, whereas Meek’s Cutoff bored me to tears. Her latest, Certain Women, would probably be on this list simply because of the cast: Kristen Stewart, Laura Dern, Jared Harris, and her muse Michelle Williams. I think what could be interesting for Reichardt is dealing with several story threads instead of solidly focusing on one, which I think is a reason some of her stuff drags for me. We’ll see how this ends up.
