9. Morris from America

This past week has been filled with endless talks of diversity and acceptance due to the Academy Award nominees. Morris from America is a film talking explicitly about that. It follows the titular Morris (Markees Christmas), a thirteen year-old African-American boy who moves to Germany. Having a different native tongue than everyone else is bad enough, let alone being black in a country that is unbelievably white. Imagine dealing with that at a time where puberty is ruling your life. This could prove to be a powerful movie that is not overbearing thanks to it being through the eyes of a more naïve mind. I hope I’m right.
