Top Ten Most Anticipated Films of the 2016 Sundance Film Festival

1. The Birth of a Nation

Giving your film that title is bold. Really bold. Writer/director/actor Nate Parker either is way too confident for his own good or just confident enough to know he has something powerful here. Well, the story of The Birth of a Nation is a bold one. It is about Nat Turner (played by Parker), a former slave who led a slave rebellion in Virginia in 1831. Parker has proven himself as a magnetic actor in films like Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, Beyond the Lights, and a film I enjoy that no one saw, About Alex. This looks to be an exciting, visceral debut that I really hope lives up the potential of its true life story.

There are of course plenty of others I am looking forward to seeing, both because of what I know about them and also due to wanting to be surprised. What films at this year’s Sundance look most appealing to you? Are there films you particularly want to see a review for?
