73rd Golden Globe Awards Predictions

Best Screenplay

  • The Big Short
  • The Hateful Eight
  • Room
  • Spotlight
  • Steve Jobs

I’m choosing Spotlight because I’m not sure the Globes want another situation like with 12 Years a Slave where a film wins Best Picture without winning any other award. Quentin Tarantino and Aaron Sorkin are bigger names who I’m sure the HFPA want to have on the stage, but there is so little support for those movies it’s hard to see it happening, even if I would love it. The Big Short, the other Best Picture winner, is also highly likely.

Best Animated Feature

  • Anomalisa
  • The Good Dinosaur
  • Inside Out
  • The Peanuts Movie
  • Shaun the Sheep Movie

Inside Out is Pixar’s return to form. They are a beloved studio who have won this award six of the previous nine years, which was when the award first started. Anomalisa may be a small threat, but it’s a little too weird for the HFPA, I think. The other three are there to fill out the category.

Best Foreign Language Film

  • The Brand New Testament
  • The Club
  • The Fencer
  • Mustang
  • Son of Saul

Son of Saul is a harrowing, important film that has received a lot of press, and I don’t see how it doesn’t win.

Best Score

  • Carol
  • The Danish Girl
  • The Hateful Eight
  • The Revenant
  • Steve Jobs

Ennio Morricone is a legend. He wins. It’s also a phenomenal score.

Best Song

  • “Love Me Like You Do” – Fifty Shades of Grey
  • “One Kind of Love” – Love and Mercy
  • “See You Again” – Furious 7
  • “Simple Song 3” – Youth
  • “Writing’s on the Wall” – Spectre

I don’t know. Brian Wilson is a big name. They like big names.

There you have it. My predictions for this year’s Golden Globes. Hopefully, this helps you out with your own predictions if you were having trouble. Depending on how you do your predictions with friends, I hope you win some cash!
