5. Anomalisa

Charlie Kaufman is incapable of writing something not interesting, and Anomalisa, which he co-directed with Duke Johnson, is no exception. He profoundly understands loneliness and has the creative capabilities to explore that in a unique way, in this case through the magic of stop motion animation. The story of a guy going to Cincinnati for a conference and meeting a girl sounds simple, and I guess that is what the movie is about. But is so much more, and all I can do is urge you to see it and let you uncover the funny yet sad brilliance of it for yourself. It deserves that.
