8. Mad Max: Fury Road

Of course George Miller‘s visceral masterpiece had to be on this list. It is proof that big budget, franchise filmmaking does not have to be assembly-line productions devoid of any personality, focused grouped to no end to appeal to everyone. If you get a filmmaker with a point of view who legitimately knows his or her craft, let them do what they do. The result may be a complete disaster, but you cannot make something truly great any other way. Mad Max: Fury Road is truly great. Look, you all know this already.
